Job Title: Executive Director of Merchandising

Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Merchandise will be responsible for leading the merchandising department, overseeing product selection, pricing, and presentation strategies across all retail channels. You will work closely with senior leadership, marketing, and operations teams to ensure that our product offerings align with customer demand and market trends, while maximizing sales and profitability. This leadership role requires a strong background in merchandising, strategic planning, and team management.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the merchandising strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals, customer preferences, and industry trends.
Oversee product selection and assortment planning, ensuring the right mix of products at the right price points to drive sales and profitability.
Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to ensure product offerings are presented effectively across all channels, including online, in-store, and catalogs.
Monitor and analyze sales performance and adjust product offerings and strategies to optimize revenue and market position.
Lead and mentor a team of merchandising professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure high performance and career development.
Partner with suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and product availability.
Work closely with the inventory management and operations teams to ensure efficient product flow and stock levels.
Ensure that all product offerings meet quality standards and align with brand identity and values.
Manage budgets and resources within the merchandising department, optimizing costs and efficiencies.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of experience in merchandising, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or executive role.
Proven track record of success in product selection, assortment planning, and strategic merchandising.
Strong understanding of retail analytics, consumer trends, and pricing strategies.
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with inventory management systems and other retail management software.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
Experience in [specific retail sector, e.g., fashion, electronics, consumer goods].
Familiarity with e-commerce merchandising and digital retail strategies.
Knowledge of global sourcing and supply chain management.
